O God, who commanded us to honor our father and our mother, in Your mercy have pity on the souls of my parents and forgive them their sins. May I see them again in the joy of everlasting brightness. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen
It was You, O God,
Who commanded us to honor our father and mother.
In Your kindness have mercy on the souls of our parents,
and forgive them their sins.
Grant that we may see them again
in the brightness of Your everlasting glory.
We ask this through Your Son,
our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Oh God, our merciful Lord, today we lift up to You all those whose parents have passed on into eternal life. For those who are young, we pray that they may find comfort, strength, and guidance from Your loving servants surrounding them. We ask that Mary enfold them within her robes, taking them as her very own children, and to whom they can look to for peace, healing and care. For those who have lost parents in young adulthood, we pray that they may find solace in friends, relatives, and their parish family. May seek You as they pass through all the milestones of life- acquiring a home, celebrating marriage, starting a family. And for those who are older when their parents pass away, those who were perhaps caregivers for many years, we pray that You may support, encourage, and renew them as they begin their new life without their mothers or fathers.
For all those souls who were parents in their earthly life, we ask that You have great mercy upon them and admit them into Your Presence as soon as possible, so they may see Your Face and rejoice in Your goodness and glory. We ask all this through Mary, our most holy and caring Mother, and through Jesus Christ, her Son and our Lord, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Dear Father, I thank You for taking care of my father/mother during their life on Earth. I thank You for giving them the opportunity to bring me into this world and I likewise thank You for the opportunity to have this prayer. I rejoice over the life that he/she led while alive and for the good deeds he/she accomplished. Lord God, I thusly pray for the soul of my deceased mother/father and that You take care of him/her on his/her way to Your holy Kingdom. I thank you for listening to my prayers oh Lord, Amen.
I commend you, my dear wife, mother and grandmother to Almighty God, and entrust you to your creator. May you rest in the arms of the Lord who formed you from the dust of the earth.
May Holy Mary, the angels and all the saints welcome you now that you have gone forth from this life. May Christ who was crucified for you, bring you freedom and peace. May Christ who died for you, admit you into his garden of paradise. May Christ, the true Shepherd embrace you as one of his flock. May he forgive all your sins, and set you among those he has chosen.
Amen
O God, who hast commanded us to honor our father and our mother; in Thy mercy have pity on the soul of my father, and forgive his his trespasses; and make me to see him again in the joy of everlasting brightness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
“Lord God,
you are attentive to the voice of our pleading.
Let us find in your Son
comfort in our sadness,
certainty in our doubt,
and courage to live through this hour.
Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord.
Amen.”
If you find that your spouse is struggling deeply with the loss of their father, this prayer offers words to push through hour to hour. Grief has a tendency to warp time, making it unbearable for those who are suffering.
