Dear Lord Jesus, my dear grandmother has been confined to bed as she has lost the strength in her legs and is having to spend a lot of her time in bed or sitting in a chair. Lord, this has caused her to have some really bad bedsores on her back and Lord, I know they are so painful, even though she does not complain about them.
Please Lord, I ask that You would heal them. Help us to find the right ointment so that they may be healed, and give us wisdom as we try to look after her and keep her as comfortable as possible with these nasty bedsores.
I do thank You for my grandmother who is such a gentle lady and who has been such a wonderful encouragement to me as I have been growing up. Be close to her Lord, heal her Lord I pray, and thank You for her life and witness. In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Dear God, I just want to bring my precious Grandma to You as she is quite sick and I just ask Lord, that You would touch her with Your healing hands and restore her to full health and strength. Lord, I also know that she is getting older and her health has been deteriorating quite rapidly over the past few months.
Father, I know that our times are in Your hands and for everything there is a season, and I know Lord, that life does not continue indefinitely, nevertheless I do pray that she may be restored to good health.
Be with her Lord in her sickness, and may she feel Your presence with her. Provide for all her needs I pray, and I ask Lord that the doctors would identify the right medicines to help speed her recovery. Keep her close to You in Your loving arms, and may she find her rest in You especially during this period of sickness. I ask this in Jesus' name.
Amen.
Dear Lord Jesus, I do thank You for my lovely life and for the wonderful way that You have promised to be with me each day. Thank You, for bringing me safely through another night and for the gift of a new and wonderful day. Great is Your faithfulness.
Lord, I pray that as I prepare to get out of bed and get washed and dressed, that You would strengthen my legs and be my support as I go about my daily duties. Give me I pray, the strength to busy myself in my little kitchen and keep me from any dangers that may arise.
Be with me I pray, as I go to and from the shops, and I ask that in Your kindness You would put those people in my path Whom You choose. And help me to be a worthy witness of Your grace and kindness to all I meet, not only in what I say but in the way that I think and act.
Thank You for my wonderful children and for each of their lives, and thank You especially Lord, for the precious grandchildren that You have placed in my life, and for granting me the joy of seeing them start to grow up and develop into the little characters that have so blessed my soul. Lord, endue them with Your heavenly grace, enrich them with a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus, may each one grow in grace and in a knowledge of their Saviour and finally Lord, bring each one home to rest securely in Your everlasting arms.
Lord, I am not getting any younger, but I trust You to carry me on eagles wings and give me a song of praise in my heart throughout the day. May I rest in Your love and abide in Your grace until You choose to take me to be with Yourself, for my times are in Your hands. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
We thank you for our grandparents who have played such an important role in our lives.
We remember with joy all of the time spent together doing simple things like fishing, doing a puzzle, baking cookies, taking a walk, reading a story and learning about the wonder of nature.
Thank you for the privilege of hearing their stories of life in another time and place that inspired us to work hard, be patient, courageously endure hard times and to dare to follow our dreams.
We are forever grateful for the wisdom and stability they provided when we felt our world was falling apart.
What a great gift to us that they loved us just because we were their grandchild.
Thank you that they counted it joy to spend time listening as we told them about the big and little things going on in our lives.
May we continuously feel their hugs and feel the warmth of their smiles so that we can better comprehend your constant and unchanging love for us.
We ask your kind forgiveness for the times we failed to appreciate our grandparents, for the times we were too wrapped up in ourselves and our own activities to spend more time with them.
Help us to become more like them as we age, learning how to accept with grace the limitations of aging bodies. Give us their strong and supernatural grace to face the loss of our own aging friends and family the same way our grandparents have. May we learn from them how to face the prospects of our own limited time on earth and our own deaths with the dignity, peace, and assurance of eternal life.
And when our time comes to be grandparents ourselves, help us to follow in their loving footsteps.
We thank You, God, for all of the grandmothers who are here today.
Their love and wisdom have helped to shape us into who we are,
and we have learned about how to love You and how to love each other
through their example.
Bless each of them with long life and show us all how to
honor them in ways that would let them know how much they mean
to us and that would also be pleasing in Your sight.
Amen
Dear Lord,
Bless every mother and every grandmother with the finest of your spiritual blessings today. Confirm in her heart and spirit the work of her hands and the love that she has so freely given to those children under Your care. Validate her worth daily so she has no reason to doubt whether she is loved, valued, and cherished in the eyes of her Heavenly Father.
Help Worry and Fear to Disappear
Create in her a deep sense of your protection and trust, so that worry and fear will disappear as she places her loved ones into Your care. Let her know that every prayer she has prayed and every encouraging word she has spoken on behalf of her children/grandchildren has been transformed into sweet, fragrant offerings before Your throne.
Whisper Sweet Words to Her
Whisper deep within her spirit the sweet words she longs to hear from You. Show her that nothing can ever separate her from Your love. Help her to nestle daily into the promises of Your Word, standing with faith on the things You declare are true. Let her know that You reward faithfulness, but that true success doesn't lie in her accomplishments or accolades.
Let her rest in the knowledge that she has done all she can—and that she and those she loves—truly belong to you. Bless her with a servant spirit so she can teach her own the joy of hearing one day, “Well done!”
Calm Every Doubt
Remove any guilt, false or real, and replace them with Your amazing grace and forgiveness. Help her see her children or grandchildren through Your eyes, knowing that in Your hands is the safest place they can ever be. Calm every doubt, and strengthen her confidence in the Only One who can bring good out of any situation.
Give Her Wisdom and Guidance
Teach her that she cannot meet every need of her child's life, but that You can. Give her wisdom and guidance to train those precious children in Your path, and then to leave the results to You, Lord. Help her to love without limitations, to pray without ceasing, and to live without regrets.
Bless her with such a sweet dependency on You that she will acknowledge her inadequacies, yet recognize and accept Your reward of praise—and Your sense of pleasure in having her as Your own beloved child.
Show Her Your Faithful Character
Where prayers may still seem unanswered, and dreams are not yet realized, open her eyes to see beyond this world to a Hope that never disappoints. Show her Your faithful character: a Father who will never leave or abandon her.
Give her courage to persevere even in the most difficult moments of her life. Bless her with honesty, integrity, and a playfulness that shows her children she is human, yet unswerving in her desire know You.
May Her Life Overflow with Blessings
Let her joy be contagious; let her passion be pure; and let her life overflow with all the blessings she deserves—on special days, and on every day of her life.
In Jesus' name,
Amen
Holy God, I thank You and pray that as I and every other grandmother grows older, we acknowledge that we still have purpose and value. We still have so much to give our families and this world. Your word says that we can still bear fruit in old age, and we will stay fresh and green. Lord, I adore You because the world around us suggests that the older people get, the less they have to offer. I know this is just wrong! Father, You still use us for Your good work. You help us bear good fruit through You. So, we thank You for entrusting us with Your work, and choosing us to bear Your precious fruit. Guide us to give us more ideas of how we can further be of service to our families and others during the priceless time You have given us on this earth. Motivate us to spring out of bed in the morning and use our talents and energy to make the lives of our families better and improve the lot of humanity. Amen.
Mighty Savior, I pray that as a grandmother, You help me to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. I pray that I remain reverent in the way that I live, not gossip and not drink too much alcohol. It is so easy to slip into a habit of sleeping late and leisurely letting my days pass. Motive me, oh Lord, to take action! Show me how to best share what I have learned through the years to guide the younger members of my family, and help the younger generations. Burn a fire in my heart for imparting wisdom on others and helping their yoke be easy, until my last breath. Help me be an example to those around me so that they too can be encouraged to live reverently for You in a life of service to others. Amen.
