Dear Lord, My son is going through turbulent times and suffers from emotional immaturity and attitude issues. His relationship with his dad has been okay but not all it could be. I pray for healing both for my son and his relationship with his father. May my son find peace and resolutions to his problems through your guidance and counsel. I pray that my son and husband find common ground and a deeper relationship through your grace. In Jesus name I pray, remembering your promises. Amen.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for (father) and for (son.)
Lord, just as you are Lord of Lord, King of Kings, and Father of Fathers, I pray that you would nurture the relationship that is between (father/son) and that you would equip (father) to be the best dad he can be to (son.)
Help him to be the Godly figure and man that will teach (son) to honor you in everything he does.
Help him to be the leader that he needs to be to (son) and to love and instruct with a gentle and forgiving heart.
Lord, I pray that you would help both of them to desire to be like you and that their lifestyle would bear witness of their love for you.
For I pray these things in Jesus' precious name – Amen.
Lord please bless my husband today.
Spirit, guide his decisions so others may see you through him.
Let him find achievement and accomplishment in his work and connection with those around him.
Allow him to identify his purpose as a man of God and work with him to guide his family.
Keep his heart pure and full of compassion.
Keep his mind protected from thoughts of failure or unimportance.
Keep his body safe from physical danger.
Keep his soul protected from temptations that arise.
Tie us together with your unfailing love and provide us with the tools to stay in a happy marriage.
Bless our family with your presence today and all the days to come.
Father, you have given me the most precious gift in life, my baby.
Your works are awesome, she is perfect because of you.
Never could I explain how grateful I am to experience ultimate love and joy.
Protector, keep my baby safe in your angels' watchful eye.
Holy Spirit, fill her soul with faith, and prepare her heart and mind for accepting you.
Please bless her future husband and his family, so he may become a strong provider and man of God.
Teacher, please work through me to raise a child of God you will be proud of.
Jesus, overflow in our relationship so it flourishes into adulthood.
Let me never take this priceless gift for granted.
Lord, please bless her steps today and each day forward until the day he sees you again.
Lord, I pray that my son will develop an eternal perspective and purpose, not an earthly one. Help him to see life–and every challenge–through Your eyes, eager and unafraid to share with others the good news of Jesus wherever he goes. I pray that they will set his minds on things above, not just what's going on here, and that he will be rooted and grounded in Your love. I pray that he will come to understand the extent of Your own love for him–that it surpasses all the head knowledge they will acquire in school. I pray he will be filled up with You from morning 'til night.
Father,
Today, we praise You for marriage. You know it's not good for us to be alone, and so You provide a way for us to be loved and to live out Your will on this earth with a faithful companion. Today, Father, we first and foremost leave the plans we have for our children at Your feet, understanding that the future we see and wish for them may not be Your will for their lives. Today, we decide to prayerfully place our children in Your capable hands. Our job as parents is to guide them to Your feet. No matter what stage of parenting we are in, guide us as only You can to begin to let go when we need to. Help us to release them into Your full will and plan for their lives.
“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.' ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one flesh.'” Mark 10:6-9
Our children are much like us in many ways, but none are carbon copies – nor are the compilations of their experiences, thoughts, and connections to You and the other people in their lives. Help us to meet them with wisdom and guidance relevant to their lives and aligned with Your will. Even in this prayer for their future spouses, we override our desires to seek Your will for them, their spouses, their future families, and lives.
“Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.” Colossians 3:18-19
Father, may our children's spouses, wherever they are in life, be blessed. May they know You, know Jesus, and put You first in their lives. May this always be the case, no matter who captures their hearts' attentions, or our child's. May You reign first and foremost in their lives, before they meet, as they get to know each other, leading them all the way down the aisle and beyond. Take center stage in their individual lives, and in their marriages.
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2-3
May our children's spouses be kind. Let the words that leave their lips speak in love and grace. We pray for the qualities of humility and gentleness. In a world that is quick to bite and jump to defense, may our children and their spouses be quick to forgive. When society rushes their agenda, help them to be patient and wait on You, God. Let purity reign in the lives our children and that of their spouses. From long before they meet, let the desires of their hearts align with Yours for their lives, Father. Give them the strength to uphold Your righteousness in their lives long before they are charged to seek You together. As their paths cross, keep their eyes set and focused on You.
“To the pure, all things are pure. But to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.” Titus 1:15
In a world that will tell them anything is OK, set them apart. Let them live according to Your will and word, so that they many enjoy the full joy of a godly marriage. Protect them, alerting them to choices they will later look back on and regret. Fill their hearts with compassion for those around them and compel them to lead others to You with their words and the way they live their lives.
Father, we pray for our children's spouses. Bless them and keep them physically safe. Guard their hearts and minds today and always. May they, and our children, enjoy walking in God's will for their lives. For if marriage is Your will for them, let it be long, lasting beyond all odds. Provide them with the wisdom – and sometimes the miracles – they will need to overcome the many challenges and tragedies of married life. May they be a shining example of Your love. Bless them – as You promise us all – beyond what we can imagine or ask for.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
Dear God,You know our hearts, you hear our prayers, and care about all that concerns us. You understand the burden we carry and how we want, more than anything, to see our loved ones come to you. Help us to remember that you love them more than we ever could. And you desire to extend your great love and forgiveness, your mercy and hope. Thank you that nothing is too difficult for you. Thank you that your power is unlimited and you came to set the captives free. Thank you that you wait, arms open, for the prodigal to return, that you look for his arrival to lavishly celebrate that he's come home. We praise you for you are Redeemer and Rescuer, Savior and Lord. We know and believe that there's no pit so deep that your love can't reach us still. We understand that your mercies are new every morning, and your faithfulness is great.
Lord, we ask that you would halt the plans of the enemy over these we love as we bring them before you right now. We pray that his schemes be demolished and that your plans for good, for a future and hope, would prevail. Would you open blind eyes that they might see your Truth. Would you rescue those walking in darkness and heal the deep wounds of those who've been hurt.
We pray for the miraculous intervention of your Spirit to draw them to yourself, to work strong on behalf of our loved ones who are lost and wandering. For you came with good news, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for captives and release for the prisoners. Though we deserved penalty for our wrong, you stood in our place and took the blows on our behalf. You choose to die, so that we can live. Forever and free.
Lord, forgive our unbelief. Forgive the times we've doubted that you could ever change a distant heart. Forgive our hard-heartedness, our weariness, or forgetfulness to “pray continually.” Thank you that you never give up on us. Remind us of how you've changed our own hearts. How your miracle of life and hope has sprung up deep within our souls. We love you Lord, we need you, and we thank you that you hear our prayers and are at work even now. Powerfully. Faithfully. Miraculously. Thank you for the gift of our Savior, God with us. Thank you for your goodness and love. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
First, oh Lord, forgive us for the times when we have misplaced our priorities so that we haven't been available to model a strong relationship with You in front of our kids. Help us to understand the power of our influence in our children's lives and to reorder our schedule so that we can be available to both directly and indirectly offer the godly influence that our sons desperately need.
Second, while we do pray that our sons would be protected from negative influences, we also pray that you would surround them with friendships and mentor-type relationships that portray what it means to have an authentic relationship with Christ. In turn, we pray that you would raise our sons up to be the influencers of the next generation. We pray that you would allow godliness and righteousness to dwell in their hearts so richly that these evidences of your truth spill out of them and to every person they encounter.
Through it all, we pray that they would not be prone to laziness or complacency, but that they would believe that even a single candle burning in the dark makes a difference and would boldly stand up for truth, even when it's unpopular.
