Father God, please protect our citizens in our community and those in the surrounding neighborhoods. I know that You have provided Your own rod of correction for our community through the local law enforcement agencies that You have sovereignly placed here and so protect us and so help us to protect our own neighborhoods too and to watch out for the interests of others (Phil 2:4). For those of us who have trusted in You O God, we know You are our protector and defender, and that ultimately I have no need to fear what anyone can do to me (Matt 10:28; Heb 13:6). Help me to depend on You in all circumstances and to know that nothing happens outside of Your divine will in my life because it's always in my best interests (Rom 8:28) and so thank You for giving us these men and women in authority for our protection for I know that they are those who wield the sword for the You (Rom 13) and so I ask You to bless them and protect them as well as my own family and friends and in Jesus' strong name I pray, amen.
Lord, since the beginning, the enemy of our souls seeks to destroy your glorious purposes for the world and your people. We pray for your protection against all powers and principalities seeking to sow division, anger, envy, greed, and lust among your people. Keep evil men with destructive intent and unsound doctrines far from us. Expose our culture's ugly lies and the lies we want to believe by setting our hearts on truth that leads to love, a good conscience, and sincere faith (1 Timothy 1:5).
I pray for your nourishing care and protection of the children and youth. Shield them from deceitful humanistic teachings and ungodly mores. Guard them from abuse and molestation by sexual predators and from the enticing unclean spirits of the age. Bind the spirit of despair and suicide, break every chain of darkness and set the captives free.
Lord, we pray for every young man and woman in our city, from junior high to high school, to be covered and protected by the blood of Jesus. We pray for every work of darkness over their hearts and minds to be bound. We ask for every lie the enemy has planted in their hearts to be eradicated right now. May they see themselves as having great value in Your eyes. We pray for families to pull together like never before and specifically for the teenagers in Waco to band together and call upon Your name. Lord, may they be drawn to Your love, Your power and Your presence to take care of every painful thing in their lives. Cause a deep move of the Holy Spirit throughout our junior high schools and high schools today. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for where you have placed me at this time. Where I live is no accident. This neighborhood is my mission field, and I declare these streets are covered by the blood of Jesus. Satan has no power here. Neighbor will embrace neighbor. The strong will stand for the weak. The young will respect the old. The capable will assist the unable. These homes will be safe havens of friendship, kindness, and compassion. No one will go hungry. No one will go unnoticed. Lives here will be changed in the name of Jesus. Amen!
Father God, thank you for providing your son Jesus Christ as the example of how we should live. Holy Spirit, invade our schools. Break down barriers that divide and isolate our students. Unite administration and faculty. Stand guard at the doors and blow through the halls. Be the friendship and acceptance that every student longs for. Be the firm yet loving authority every teacher needs. Our classrooms belong to you, God, in the name of Jesus! Amen.
Heavenly Father,
We pray that you would protect our community from further acts of violence, and fill our streets with peace.
For those who are mourning the loss of loved ones, would you draw close to them and bring them comfort. Would those who feel fearful or vulnerable instead be filled with hope.
We pray that these recent attacks would not lead to fear, uncertainty, or division. And may they not become a catalyst for further acts of hate.
Amen
Thank you for the men and women who risk their lives on behalf of others. Would you empower the police and emergency services to protect our city from further acts of violence. And would you empower us, your church, to be peacemakers in our communities.
We look forward to the day when weapons will be beaten into ploughshares, every tear will be wiped away, and death will be swallowed up forever. We pray for a foretaste of that day right now.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
