O merciful Lord God,
Thou hast commanded and enjoined me to honor my father and mother,
and Thou Thyself hast shown even until death humble obedience to Thy Father.
From the depth of my soul I fervently beseech Thee,
O gracious Jesus Christ, my God, hear my prayer and have mercy upon my parents,
who have given birth to me and are bringing me up in Thy grace and love.
Protect them from all evil, harm and sickness;
grant them health, and mercifully pour forth Thy bountiful blessings upon them.
Bless their efforts and deeds;
have mercy on them according to Thy great mercy, that faithfully serving Thee,
through them I also may be worthy to praise and serve Thee. Amen.
Thank you, O God, for my home, for my parents, for the tender love, security and prospects of learning I have been given. Forgive us for the times we have hurt and disregarded their advice.Set them free Lord from sorrow, regrets and sense of guilt. May we love, respect and obey themat all times. Bless our parents Lord with Your protection and wisdom and may we be the joy of our parents at all times.2. Child 2: (for grandparents)We thank You God for the generosity of our grandparents, for their time, kindness, guidance and advice they have shared with us. We pray, bless them with peace, joy and strength in their yearsof maturity. Help us to appreciate and respect them always. Sustain them with good health of body, mind, soul and spirit; and to our departed grandparents grant eternal reward. Amen.
May we continuously feel their hugs and feel the warmth of their smiles so that we can better comprehend your constant and unchanging love for us. We ask your kind forgiveness for the times we failed to appreciate our parents, for the times we were too wrapped up in ourselves and our own activities to spend more time with them.
Help us to become more like them as we age, learning how to accept with grace the limitations of aging bodies. Give us their strong and supernatural grace to face the loss of our own aging friends and family the same way our parents have. May we learn from them how to face the prospects of our own limited time on earth and our own deaths with the dignity, peace, and assurance of eternal life.
And when our time comes to be parents ourselves, help us to follow in their loving footsteps.
We thank you for our parents who have played such an important role in our lives.
We remember with joy all of the time spent together doing simple things like fishing, doing a puzzle, baking cookies, taking a walk, reading a story and learning about the wonder of nature.
Thank you for the privilege of hearing their stories of life in another time and place that inspired us to work hard, be patient, courageously endure hard times and to dare to follow our dreams.
We are forever grateful for the wisdom and stability they provided when we felt our world was falling apart.
What a great gift to us that they loved us just because we were their child.
Thank you that they counted it joy to spend time listening as we told them about the big and little things going on in our lives.
Dear God, You are our impenetrable Refuge and mighty Strength. You are an ever-present help in times of trouble. I come before You, Lord, seeking Your watchful care upon our parents. As they deal with the physical restraints and mental decline that come with aging, please protect them from accidents and diseases that can make their remaining years difficult. Protect them from people who might take advantage of them. Lord, allow them to live their remaining years in the peace and comfort of Your loving protection. Amen.
Lord, You have loved us immeasurably. You have allowed us to be filled with joy and peace through the hope You have given us. I ask You, Lord, to let this truth become clearer and more apparent to our parents. When feelings of loneliness begin, let them wake up each morning feeling Your ever-present and boundless love and companionship. Shower their days with Your comforting presence. Let them peacefully rest at night, confident in the hope of Your promises. Amen.
Dear Father, We thank you for our wonderful parents. They bring such joy and happiness into our lives. Thank you for all the special times that we have with them. Please watch over them, protect them and care for them now. May they know your goodness and love always. Amen.
Dear Lord! Fill our parents with Thy choicest blessings; enrich their souls with Thy holy grace; grant that they may faithfully and constantly guard that likeness to Thy union with Thy Church, which Thou didst imprint upon them on their wedding day. Fill them with Thy spirit of holy fear, which is the beginning of wisdom; inspire them to impart it to their children. May they ever walk in the way of Thy commandments, and may we their children be their joy on earth and their crown of glory in heaven. Finally, Lord God, grant that both our father and mother may attain to extreme old age and enjoy continuous health in mind and body. May they give Thee abundant thanks because Thou bast bestowed upon them the great gift of parenthood. Amen.
