*God, we ask that you would provide financially for our new facility. That parents
would give generously as your word says give and it will be given to them. Good
measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. (Luke 6:38). We pray
that parents would understand that where their treasure is, there is their heart. (Matt.
6:21) We pray that parents would not set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches,
but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. We pray that parents
are generous and ready to share, storing up treasure in heaven, so that they may
take hold of that which is truly life. (1 Tim. 6:17-19, Matt. 6:20)
Dear Lord,
Fill her (his) heart with peace,
Hold her (his) hand today,
Help him/her feel secure and loved,
Be with him/her we pray.
May him/her smile and make new friends
Paint and learn and play,
Bless the teaching staff who care
For little ones today.
Lift my heart to trust that he'll/she'll
Be overseen by you,
Father God cover us
On his/her first day at school.
Amen.
Dear Father God,
Today I pray for Your care and protection throughout the school year. Cover the schools in our area and across the nation with Your covering and protection. I/we pray for vigilance among administrators and teachers as well as security personnel. Lord I/we pray that would-be perpetrators will be turned from their intentions and receive the corrective influences that are needed in their lives. Lord, I/we pray that the school year will be successfully completed without incident. It is so. In Jesus name I/we pray, Amen.
Father, I pray that our colleges and universities might become centers for revival rather than for the tearing down of the faith. I ask You to work through the many Christian groups and churches on the campuses to bring thousands of young men and women to faith and discipleship. I pray that the Holy Spirit will use Christian professors and faculty members as a might force for good and that a new standard might be raised up. I pray that Christian students will stand strong for their faith and grow in profound ways. And I pray that You will equip churches and homes across the land to give their young people the training for a biblical worldview that will cause them to thrive in their faith through their entire college experience. Amen.
Father, there is so much to pray for our children as they grow up, and my prayer is that You will help parents and educators to provide them with the special nurture and loving atmosphere that will help them discover their gifts and talents and develop them for Your glory. I pray that You will surround our children with so much encouragement that no feelings of inadequacy, fear, or uncertainty will keep them from becoming the joyful, creative people You desire them to be. I pray that You will make classrooms into places where there is a delight in learning instead of drudgery or dread. I pray for wisdom and discernment to reign in the hearts of both parents and teachers to safeguard the hearts and minds of our children. Amen.
God of life and love, you have given me this child to care for this little while.
My heart is welled with joy and thanksgiving, anticipation and anxiety, amidst a longing to be together as we have been till now.
These years of growing up have moved so quickly, so many things left undone, so much left unsaid, so much I still hope to give to my child who is taking this new step in the journey of life.
Help us as we reshape our lives to reflect this new reality of college. Show us new ways to be present to each other in love and in trust. Give me patience and help me to remember that my child is establishing new routines in freedom, routines different from my routines. Amen
Lord please calm my fears. Strengthen and protect my child in the midst of the challenges and temptations which surround all students. Grant greater courage that I myself may have had in standing for your truth against compromises of faith.
Provide good friends and worthy confidants for my child during these college years. Help me to give support and confidence, to discern how I am needed now, and to pass on, in my love, a measure of the strength and courage you have given me in the gift of parenting. Amen
Father, thank you for my student. This life you've woven in them is wonderful. During this school year, whether it's in the dorm adjusting to their roommates, standing on the marching band or athletic field, sitting in a classroom, or staring at their homework, may my student park their thoughts on you. Protect my child against self-harm, failure, depression, and laziness. Surround them with your truth concerning drugs, alcohol, sex, and faith. Close the door on blame, bad-mouthing, judgment, and condemnation. May they consider and cherish, instead, what is true, allowing your perfect love to cast out all fear. May they dwell on all that's honorable, just, pure, and lovely. May he/she toss aside the bad, clinging to the good – especially when it comes to relationships and their future with you. May virtue and praise echo in their mind and be reflected in their words and actions. In Jesus' name, amen.
