Lord God Almighty, would You help our pastor to humble himself before You and under Your mighty hand, so that You will lift him up (Jas. 4:10; 1 Pet. 5:6)? Guide him in what is right and teach him Your way (Psa. 25:9). May our congregation see that he is wise and understanding as shown by his good life, and by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom (Jas. 3:13). Father, You have said that the one You esteem is he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who trembles at Your Word (Isa. 66:2). May our pastor be such a person!
Father, help our pastor to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings (Phil. 3:10). Since we know of his faith in the Lord Jesus and his love for all the saints, may we never stop giving thanks for him, always remembering him in our prayers. We will keep asking that You, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, will give him the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that he may know You better (Eph. 1:15-17).
I pray that, despite persecution, you would continue in what you've learned in Scripture, knowing that it is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness. I pray that you would be competent and equipped for every good work (3:10-17). Amen
I pray that you would preach the word, in season and out of season. I pray that you would reprove, rebuke, and exhort with complete patience and teaching?especially in a time when people won't endure sound teaching but rather find teachers who suit their own fancy and wander form truth to myths (4:1-4). Amen
There once was a flock
That was lost and afraid
It wandered around
Without direction for days
But the Lord looked down
With compassion from above
And sent a good shepherd
To lead them with love
The shepherd was kind
Loving and wise
And he cherished his whole flock
No matter the color or the size
Though the shepherd was quiet
Humble and meek
Every ear listened
Whenever he would speak
He showed them the way
To walk in the light
And he prayed every day
For God to give them true sight
He taught them about
The blood of the Lamb
And about the creator
The great I AM
They flourished and they grew
Through the knowledge they gained
About the Saviour from above
Who lived without blemish or stain
The flock was so thankful
To the Lord up above
For sending a wise leader
Who was so full of love
He lead them with
A strong and gentle good hand
And took the whole flock
Safely into God's Promised Land
Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
